Links

Here are some of my favourite sites. It you love reading or want to write romance there’s something here for you. Happy surfing.

For Romance Junkies

A blogazine for ladies (and gents) who love category romance.
Harlequin’s American website, has a wonderfully supportive community for aspiring writers (and readers), as well as helpful info about where and how to submit your work.
Harlequin’s English website, where to buy the books (including mine) in the UK and, once again, it has great tips for aspiring authors and info on all their lines and imprints and the different guidelines. Most important of all, remember, you need to read the books M&B are publishing before you can attempt to write for them. The books are constantly evolving and changing to suit the changing readership, so don’t assume that just because you read an M&B once when you were 12 you know what they’re like now. And don’t condescend to your readership. You have to know what they love about these books to write them… And you have to love it too!
Another site for category romance junkies.
The place to learn and play if you want to be a romance writer.
  • marilyns-romance-reviews.blogspot.com
What can I say, Marilyn likes my books, it’s a no-brainer frankly.
A fab place to play for lovers of all things Presents – and they also host writing comps from time to time for Presents lovers who are also inspired to write them.

Some of my Favourite Author Sites

So You Want to Write Romance….

Here are the organisations that helped me to get published.

The Romantic Novelist’s Association in the UK. If you live in Britain and are serious about being a romance writer join the New Writer’s Scheme, it costs about £50 (not including membership). They will give you constructive but honest feedback on your whole manuscript in the form of a reader’s report and might even get it in front of an editor or agent if it’s ready. Fantastic value. But you have to sign up as close as possible to the start date of the scheme each year on January 1st as they have limited slots and it’s very popular!
The Romance Writers of America. This is the first and foremost romance writers association. Included in the membership fee is their monthly magazine The Romance Writers Report – a must-read for romance authors both published and unpublished.
The online chapter of RWA of which I am a member. They do fantastic online workshops and their Critters corner is invalueable for feedback plus it gives you the chance to crit other writers. Not only that, but they’re a really friendly bunch.
